Reminder: time to give your pet its flea, tick and heartworm medication. This is a real picture of a cat flea seen with a special type of microscope that uses electrons instead of light. Fleas proliferate in warm weather and come inside on your dog or cat. They jump onto animals to feed and jump off again living close to the ground - including your bed, blankets, couches and carpet. A flea can jump fifty times it's body length: 18 cm vertically and 33 cm horizontally!
It is time to give July's dosage of flea, tick and heartworm medication, if you haven't already. This is a once monthly medication to be given up to and including November. If you have any questions or concerns about the medication your animal has been prescribed or are interested in a more comprehensive prescription please call your veterinarian.

On the other end of the spectrum, reptiles have found their place in the hearts of some pet owners. Turtles, snakes, and lizards can make fascinating companions, but they also demand specialized care due to their cold-blooded nature. Creating a proper habitat and maintaining the right temperature and humidity levels are crucial to ensure the well-being of these exotic pets.
