Time to start your heartworm medication! The weather is finally warming up and the heartworm parasite will be active in the already present mosquitoes, so it is that time. For those of you that added extra tick protection please continue to use once monthly as well. You may need to call us when you run out to extend treatment for full seasonsonal coverage. Some active families may wish to consider keeping their fur baby on year round tick protection. If you are unsure that your pet should be on year round tick protection then please give us a call for advise.
The heartworm preventative medication is to be given once a month will go up until and including the month of November. Such an honour to have the Oakville Beaver come out and do a photo opt and write this story about Dr Gold and the Animal Hospital Of River Oaks' 30th Anniversary.
Dr. Lorie Gold celebrates The Animal Hospital of River Oaks 30th anniversary this year. Here he is pictured with his very first client, Karen Rose and her old English sheep dog Arleigh, 8. On the very first day of the clinic opening Rose walked her bunny from her house down the street to the clinic to receive care. The Animal Hospital of River Oaks is celebrating 30 years of maintaining the health of the furry, scaly and feathered members of the Oakville community. Since 1989 the hospital has operated with the vision of being more than a family veterinary hospital, but rather a lifelong partner, ally, and trusted resource for everything pet related. Practice Owner and Veterinarian Dr. Lorie Gold said the hospital offers general veterinary practice services to all pets- serving mostly dogs and cats over the years, but also birds, hamsters, rabbits and even the occasional snake. The services available include hospitalization for intensive care, blood work, digital radiography, urinalysis, dental procedures, wellness examinations and vaccinations. The hospital even does pre-purchase consultations for people trying to determine what type of pet is right for them. “That’s the joy of veterinary medicine. It is so varied,” said Gold. “You never know what you are going to see next or what kind of help you are going to be asked to provide.” Gold said another rewarding aspect of his practice in Oakville is that people who were children and would bring in their pets when he first started his practice have grown up, married and are now coming in with children of their own and their children’s pets. https://www.insidehalton.com/news-story/9307135-animal-hospital-of-river-oaks-celebrates-30-years-in-oakville/?fbclid=iwar2y6wya1_au5r6_ou1vmad7d0n98bym_c9xfag7mg9jrrxwj0hyjmpi7gu Story by David LeaDavid Lea is a general assignment reporter, covering news, municipal politics and crime for InsideHalton.com Ticked off: Keep your pets away from |
