Dr. Gold has been elected to the Council of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO). Every veterinary hospital is inspected and accredited, and all of the nearly 5,000 veterinarians in our province are licensed. The 18 CVO councilors are responsible for the regulations, licensing and practice of veterinary medicine and the veterinary profession in Ontario. As a council member, Dr. Gold will be assisting the College’s policy work and initiatives which enable it to protect and serve the public interest. This regulatory work will be in addition to Dr. Gold’s clinical responsibilities here at our hospital as well as his teaching responsibilities at the University of Guelph. We wish Dr. Gold every success in this new position, we know that he has a lot of wisdom to share! It is November already! Wow did time fly by for this year’s heartworm season. November is our final month to give heartworm preventative medication until spring of next year. The staff will be contacting you in early spring to discuss when your canine friend’s blood parasite test should be done and to get ready for 2018 heartworm season.
